Portadown News 1859: William Preston, Margaret Preston and Thomas Preston found guilty of assault on William Silver on 28th June at Ella. Imprisoned for 3, 1 and 1 month respectively.
Armagh Quarter sessions 1845: John Preston tried for assaulting a Lushington Dixon - found not guilty. (Armagh Guardian July 1845)
Connaught Journal for 1823 reported the trial of James Hughes for murder. The victim was killed in Armagh in 1813. Andrew Preston of Newtownhamilton was brought down to act as a witness as he knew Mr Hughes who used to live one mile outside Newtownhamilton. Andrew is reported as testifying that he was born in Newtownhamilton, that his wife worked but that he did no work except getting in his crops!

On the Ballyvalley Estate Brice Smyth rented 14 1/2 acres in 1728 from Solomon Whyte. When he died in 1750 the land was transferred to John Preston.
